Hey Steve, Good playing. It would be a good idea to relax the feel a little bit so it has that easy feel the the song has. This tune is at a tempo that encourages double timing which you may want to try at times in your solo. Keep up th e good work, Duke
As you can probably notice this is a work in progress. I am more relaxed. However, I am uncertain as to where excactly the solo starts. I try counting and altho i hate counting it has to be done - until i am more confortable with it. And i will likely never be completely comfortable counting. Anyway it is a great song so i persevere.
That's great Steve! You started the solo at exactly the right place. You got a little ahead of the chords for a second but made a great recovery and got back in the groove quickly. Your playing sounds great through. Really good job! Duke
Hey Steve, You sound great playing this. My only advice is try to relax it a bit more. An important part of this feel is the laid back time feel of it. but you are playing all the parts great. Good on ya! Duke
Hi Steve, The rest of the song after the first chorus is in Bb. It modulates to Bb from F at the vocal. next lesson is the rest of the song in Bb. Coming right up Friday. Duke
Thanks Duke. And yes i feel i am starting to relax more with it. I think you have said these solos are a mix of major and pentatoic scales. So, i have been practicing just that. The more I practice this the more fluent i beleive i will be. Looking forward to the next lesson, perhaps Avalon and not to forget Swingin the blues which SJ just re released.
Steve, My friend, if I were to grade that performance I would give it an Excellent +. Seriously! It was beautifully melodic, inventive and swinging. You are starting to relax with it and I can feel that you are improvising naturally. Truly great work. You are making me proud boy. Thanks! Duke

I will continue to work on the solo. It is a challenge listening for the dimished while soloing. I missed the transition lick into the B section - a senior moment.
Hi Steve, You sound great and I like a few of the different chords you are using in the head. Your soloing is really coming along well. my only advise is to relax a bit more with the tempo. let yourself get loose with the beat. i know when your filming yourself it can be a bit hard. but that's my only critque. you're making good progress! Duke
Wow lots to remember. I love the hesitation before the melody comes. I think that is syncopation?
Hearing this back i should have increased the gain a tad. Next time.

I'll get more comfortable with the solo section with more practice.
Having fun with this one. Love the 2nd solo turnaround. That i will steal. :)
Thanks Duke!
As Little Walter watches.
Thanks Bruce,
Looking forward to the next lesson.
Duke
Nice to have you back. Looking forward to this.
Recorded at 100 bps thru my 5F1 (Champ) kit, tho it would be nice to have a touch of reverb.
Cheers
Steve
Pretty playing, Steve, as usual.
Thanks Bruce,
Looking forward to the next lesson.
Hey Bruce. Nice.
The throw on your couch is messing with my mind.
Cheers
Steve
Same structure, Glamour Girl.
Thanks Duke.
Steve
Is it me - it appears the backing track intro isn't completing the turnaround as is in the lesson?
I'll check it and get right back to you.

Hi Duke
As suggested, i have listened to many different artist performing this classic. Most everyone sticks to the melody which i prefer.
I couldn't find a version by Les Paul as I embellished a bit with him in mind.
Cheers
Steve
Sounds great Steve nice job on the melody! Duke
Hey Duke
Here's my LN1 and 2. I will lower the level on the backing track for next LN.
BTW Do you still have your red 175?
Cheers
Steve
Sounds good Steve! No I sold it years ago. Duke
Hey Duke
I missunderstood last lesson and played the intro (F) over the vocal.
Steve
No problem Steve you sound great, you were just ahead of me! Duke
Looking forward to next lesson and later soloing.
Steve
Hey Duke
A great chrod progression. Love it.
Any frustration you may sense here is primary recording equipment related.

Hi Duke
Are you thinking of the backing chords while inprovising?
As a blues player, I never think of the backing chords. I just concertrate on melody and play from the heart - leaving my head out of it.
I recall from my limited instruction years ago, i know we have to be aware of key changes.
Cheers
Steve
Hey Duke. I continue to work on this. What i am hearing in my head hasn't quite made it to my fingers yet. soon i hope. patients. I'll keep at it.
Thanks for sharing. It is helping me immensely in a swing proficiency.
