I'm interesting in starting my harmonica journey from the begining?  Jerry, where do you suggest I start?  In what order would I approach your tutorials on this site?

thanks Much!

@Alex...gates is another way of saying door (gate is what you walk through when you enter a yard at someone's house).  So the song is talking about traveling to see a woman at her house.

I wanted to take a moment to let Jerry know how helpful and inspiring his instruction is.  I think the website concept is great.  I am definately sticking around.

I also want to thank Ricky for helping me practice.  You are critical to the operation!

Hi Craig --- glad you are enjoying Jerry.  Yes, it's great to have Ricky King Russell a part of Sonic Junction.  We just published a lesson today "How Long Blues" where Rick plays the backing track.

@craig...greetings and thanks for your comments, and sharing your memories.  about playing in open E, I been doing it for almost twenty years and I have never had a problem.  the strings will break long before your guitar, so I just learned over the years to play with a lighter touch.  like you, i don't really dig open d since the pitch is a little too low.  but i think that most guitars, if they are made well, can withstand having the strings tuned to a higher pitch.  glad to hear that you got yourself a resonator and playing slide all the time...all the best.

Hey Duke, any chance you could break this song down sometime?

Jerry....Have been enjoying evry song that you have shared with Sonic J; I want to be able to practice away from my computer with the backing tracks that we have on-site. It would be nice to have a downloadable audio option that would allow us to burn the individual backing tracks on to a CD and be able to play over the tracks while in the car, away from the house, etc... I would also like to have the tracks optioned with Ricki singing and without him singing in order to develope vocal/harp technique. Is this possible?  Tommy Hutch

Hi Corey!  i just bought a resonator because your lessons with slide guitar inspired me so much that i now play slide all the time...and i prefer this open E major tuning...but i keep hearing from others that this tuning is very bad for a guitar, what with all of the tension on the strings...what do you think about this?  i know open D is the same thing only one step down, but i don't like playing in open D so much, it's not the pitch for me.  what do you recommend doing?  also, congratulations on the new album...i've been listening to your albums a lot lately...i'm living in germany now, but i'm from south carolina, so your albums in one sense are like a slice of home for me...i remember working in the tobacco fields in 100 degree weather, and listening to my grandpa's friends play blues on their front porches.  good memories...and i feel all of that again when i hear your albums...thanks, and take care!

Great Album !! Mixed blues stye and I love it ! I'm still listening deep into it ! You can buy it while closing your eyes (i don't know the right expression ;)) ! The things is when you bought it on amazon you don't have the credits. Maybe the harmonicist is Phil Wiggins ?

@Corey....ahahah nice...this reminds when I used to play djembe with my senegalese brothers in the clubs....it was the rule that somebody, as the stage was in front of the people (really little clubs), at a certain moment started to say....hey...give me that djembe!!...to all of us..no exception..one day was for me..the other day for my brother Makhtar..I want to play!!....or even worse...they started putting the hands on the djembe....off course all drunk people...  and I got so upset when this happened but mainly I didn't know what to do...sometime I just let them play on my djembe and after a while stay at game, say that they have played really good but at the end took my djembe back....in other cases I just said....NO...go away...and as these folks usually were drunk...well I had some problems....one said...hey...you're an assohole...djembe is an instrument for everybody...let me play...but at the end I was always safe as if I'm thin...it was true that my brothers were all high, tall and really strong!!! :DDD

This kind of things never happend to me when I played the guitar...

Yes, I've had good performance before. This is the first time it's hapenned. Will be logging in again in the next 1 to 3 days and will let you know.

Hi Kevin,

Thanks for letting us know and sorry for the issue.  From what you describe

"sound breaks up / video starts and stops"

"tried laptop and iPad - horrible both ways"

My first guess is that it is your internet connection speed and/or you have another device on your network using a lot of bandwidth.  We serve all of our videos out of Amazon's infrastructure which is usually pretty solid.  Our videos are higher quality than those you find on YouTube ... so we do find from time to time that people run into bandwidth issues.  Two questions for you

1. Have you had good performance with the laptop and iPad before?

2. Can you try again today and let me know how it goes?

Thanks.

I am on business travel about 40% of the time, much of it supporting the US Army  In my travel I carry a Stienberger electric or Baby Tayler. I understand the Application approach but unfortunately the Foward Operating Based in Afganistan or even Iraq (when it was active) don't have a very good cellular infrastructure if any at all. Back in the States places like Ft Bliss, Ft Huachuka to name of few are very spotty when on manuavers.  The point being that having CD's or something like that would help.Thinking out load.  I can't see why Sonic Junction can't bundle some of the lessons have product in a CD format. It would create another revenue stream and open up a new market segment of senior guitar players like me who aren't into Ipods and are on the road with only guitar and laptop (not android) in hand.

It really sucks tonight!! Video portion of lessons would not load properly, a lot of stops ands starts, sound kept breaking up. I had to go solely by tablature. Technical problems - very frustrating! Tried laptop and I pad - horrible both ways!
